From time to time the Smith Family enjoys leaving the familiar and immersing into the unfamiliar. Such an experience expands our understanding of ourselves and others. In 2010 we followed the Bronzan's to a foreign land with a foreign culture and a foreign language. We invited you to share our journey.
14 Seawater Polo
Feeling guilty from our sugar overload, we took a long walk into the local section of the island. The Bulldog Café looked like a winner with a make your own kabob pita bread sandwich. We made a note of it for a return dinner run. A bit farther down the road we discovered a wonderful kid-friendly beach area. An Olympic-size sea water “pool” was sectioned off with wood decking. It was equipped with starting blocks both for Olympic length and the shorter 25 yard lanes where lap swimming was underway. On the shore side of the pool stood cement bleachers. We sat and watched a bit of water polo practice. Just beyond the pool was a shallow wading area where families with young kids played in the Sea. Like in Hvar, a couple of kids were enjoying the challenge of walking on water inside a plastic 7-foot bubble. Beyond the pebble shore was a set of trampolines, clay tennis courts, and a basketball court. One young boy spotted us spotting him and began a daredevil showoff routine. What a wonderful resource for the local folk.
