10 Villa PaPe

Villa PaPe is a lovely owner-built home with beautiful views of the sea and nearby islands. It’s located on the island side of Trogir just over the bridge from Downtown Trogir which is also uniquely surrounded by water. That afternoon Petey and I walked the shore along a brick path laid down between the road and the beach. Small bars and souvenir shops established themselves along the path. One vendor by a beach campground was selling chocolate covered food. Her 3’ high chocolate flowing fountain looked mighty tempting. I wanted to stick my finger in the flow and stuff it my mouth. We didn’t bite … perhaps later. We enjoyed watching the families young and old vacation on the beach, everyone an olive skin sun worshipper. One father was inflating a large plastic bubble on the shore with his two young children waiting anxiously inside the bubble. When the dad finished inflating the bubble and sealing it up he rolled it out to sea. The kids jostled around inside the bubble trying to stand up. I’m not sure how they got fresh air but they were having a ball ... so to speak.

The Toews and young Bronzans quickly recovered from their long flight and were up ready to go. We were now eight and hungry for dinner. We piled into Boris’ van and soared down the driveway-alley to downtown Trogir … in 3rd gear! We lifted our hands in the air letting out a muted scream like we were riding the Big Dipper Roller Coaster in Santa Cruz. We dined alfresco, next to the harbor front promenade knitting strong connections with our newest friends. The Toews are an adventurous pair with deep roots in Jesus. Curtis and Cassie are a young couple in love. They filled both sets of parents with joy and adoration when they announced the special miracle that they were starting their family … Cassie was pregnant. Curtis cleverly used his SLR to show a picture of Cassie’s stomach (the before) then in the next picture, he had transposed the baby’s ultrasound image onto her stomach (the after) … an amazing digital camera that takes ultrasound pictures! Following dinner we strolled the promenade gawking at the rich and not so famous living aboard the enormous yachts parked on the wall. We scheduled with Boris a 10:00 rendesvous across the second bridge. Even at ten, Trogir was still waking up. The streets were packed, the resturants were full and the party was just getting started ... past our bedtime.
